Power of Social Bookmarking – My Babymoon Travelling Information Guides

Let me share with you how powerful of social bookmarking using my new website “Babymoon Travelling Information Guides” as example. It get indexed by Google and has rank in first page within one day time and rank #1 after I submitted my video to youtube.

Before I go further, let me do some introduction about my new website. This is my brand new “one page only” website which the title is “Babymoon Travelling Information Guides”. Many of you know that my I named my two year old daughter “Baby Moon” and I found that “babymoon” has a wonderful meaning.

Babymoon – a vacation taken by couple that is expecting a baby in order to allow the couple to enjoy a final trip together. The main objective for Babymoon Travelling is to let parents have a relaxing and enjoyabe time while awaiting for the newborn.

I am about to finish writing a book on Babymoon Travelling, but to provide good valuable information to those who wishes to travel a babymoon holidays, I have this new website seeking your help to Share your knowledge, ideas as well as experiences you think should be in my book.

I published my website on 17th November and the next day it has get indexed by Google and ranked in first page. Last night I have submitted videos to youtube and my website get rank #1 today (22 Nov 2008).

So, now you might want to know how my “one page only” website get indexed by Google within one day and what is the secret behind? I would tell you that there is no secret, what I have done is very simple – Social Bookmarking! I have only done Social Bookmarking and please do not doubt about my answer. I have submitted my website to many social bookmarking sites and this is the result.

What’s my result of get rank within #20 of organic keywords search? I think you should know the answer – TRAFFIC! I get more than 200 visitors in one day right after my babymoon travelling website was published.

Google Adwords – About Google Network

I’m thinking how to share about my learning of Google Adwords because after I’ve studied all the topics I really found that “All the topics are important”. You really cannot skip any sentence in the lesson, don’t mention a topic. =)

I will choose those topics that I feel we should pay more attention into it or normally people tend to ignore. One of the reason I do my own notes is I always like to have a glance of the things I learn and I always highlighted the points I feel I should pay more attention (key points for me).

I’ve decided to share on Google Network today.

Why I feel that it’s important?

We must know what google network is before we start any campaign. The consequences of ignore this will end up with losing extra money on Adwords.

Let’s see my notes about Google Network:

From my notes, you can see that Google Network can be classified into two:

Search Network – Text Ads
Content Network – Text Ads, Image Ads, video Ads etc

The key points I’ve highlighted in my Note 1 are:

Contextual targeting matches keyword-targeted ads to pages in the Google Content Network
If you want an ad to run on the Search Network & Content Network, it is best to create 2 separate campaigns – 1 structured for search and 1 structured for the contextually targeted advertising.

Why 2 separate campaigns?
Please refer to my Note 2 – 4 criterias

Places where ad can appear are different.
Acceptable Ad Formats are different.
Basis (Keywords issues) of ad being shown are different.
The bidding options are different and we would like to set CPC for Search Network while CPM for Content Network.

Book Review – Wink And Grow Rich by Roger Hamilton

Today I would like to share with you about this book – Wink And Grow Rich.

I was surprised about her question but I shared with her in a very simple way because the SEO or LSI term is too technical for her. She then asked me whether want to read this book by Roger Hamilton – Wink And Grow Rich. The book is not thick, only 128 pages and she said I can finish it within two hours time.

Frankly, I don’t know who is Roger Hamilton. I just felt that since the book is not too thick and the title sounds good, I decided to read it before I went to bed. Guess what, I really appreciate for the recommendation. The book just too wonderful.

It’s a story about a young man who looks for the Well of Wealth. It’s really nothing to do with Internet Marketing but when I read that I just surprise that the book answered my questions about Internet Marketing in my mind.

The book just answered me and it summarized in 28 key points. I must share with you these key points:

Think it, ink it, do it, review it
Choose the level you want to play at
What you see is always what you get
Ask and you shall receive
Learning is a game
Invest more of your time, spend less of it

etc
up to No.28 – You are the result of your choices
What came after No.29?

The most inspired me are the hand drawing pictures, full of meanings and easy to understand yet stay long in my mind. I really hope to show you one or two but due to the copyright I can’t do that.

I was looking around for the book when it disappeared from my table. Just so surprised to see my Baby Moon was holding the book and I quickly recorded her reading. But a bit late, because she almost finished reading. =)

I’m sure I’ll read it again just like other people who read it for 3 times, 5 times or even 7 times. I will also let my Baby Moon read again in the near future since she has read it for her first time. =)

My Handwriting Notes About Google Adwords

This is not the first time I mentioned about my learning of Google Adwords. I have lots of interest about Google Adwords and I’ve spent time at the learning center to sharpen my Adwords knowledge.

For the first time I read from the learning center, I actually choose those topics that I “feel” is important to me, examples the campaign and ad group management and the keyword targeting. I don’t really read all the topics or even I read some, I didn’t “see” the importance of the topics.

I started my Adwords campaigns and I was panic when I get a very poor CTR. The performance of the campaigns and ad group were really not good. That time my friend – Teddy (he is now my mentor) asked me to read from the learning center. I listened to him but I still focus on the keyword targeting and ignore the other parts. I started to use different types of keywords and brainstormed a lot. This time the result improved but I still feel that it still can be improved.

After I’ve taken up IM course, I asked Teddy AGAIN about how to improve the result of adwords, he gives me lots of advice and AGAIN he asks me to read from the learning center and he mentioned that “All topics in the learning center are important”.

Guess what, I feel that I just like those children who need the parents to nag for few times before seriously do the homeworks.

So, this time I really spent my time to seriously read it and also do my notes. I write down notes for easy referring and better revision when needed. And, this is the first time I agree that “All topics in the learning center are important”!

Things I Have Learnt For The Last Three Month

I have joined Internet Marketing for three months. Can you imagine three months ago I’m totally inactive in internet?! I just use internet for office works and seldom check emails. Although I have MSN and Friendster accounts, I seldom participate in it.

I came across some ads about Make Money Online when I surf net one day. I started to wonder What is happening in this world? Why there are people earning money through internet but I’m totally don’t know about it? I tried to look for more information about this and slowly I came to the word of “Internet Marketing”.

Without much thinking, I decided to get myself in internet marketing. The first thing I learn is “Mindset” and the right mindset is the main key of success. There are three secrets of success in IM: -

Right Mindset
Right Attitude
Right System

I spent time to adjust my mindset and attitude towards IM and I get a mentor because modeling is a good and fastest way to success. If you read my blog post, you should know that my mentor is Teddy Wu and I’ve joined his Apprentice Program recently.

For the last three months, I have learnt about: -

Google – Adwords, Adsense etc

I also never think of I could have my own domain website and get one for my lovely Baby Moon. I must admit that the power and will of learn is so strong that I set up the blog by myself doing step by step without any IT background.

I’m not the legend of get quick rich in three months time but I always believe in “There is a Will, There is a Way!”. I believe I can succeed one day if I don’t give up. And now I think I already have some achievements in term of my life because of my willingness to change. The achievements just couldn’t be measured by money. =)

What is Social Media Marketing?

My very first lesson with my mentor was learnt about Social Media Marketing.

According to Wikipedia, social media is the use of the electronic and internet tools for the purpose of sharing and discussing information and experiences with other human beings. Social media marketing is another low-cost promotional method for your website or business and it is a powerful strategy that will easily give you large numbers of visitors. Those visitors may come back to your website again and again.

What is the difference of Social Media Marketing (SMM) and Social Media Optimisation (SMO)
Cameron Olthius has great definitions of the SMM and SMO and I’m going to quote here.

SMO refers to the process of refining a website (optimizing it) so that it’s awareness and content are easily spread through social mediums and online communities by users and visitors of the website. The simplest example of SMO is represented by all the “digg this” and “add to delicious” icons and links that are percocet online all over the web today.

Social Media Marketing – SMM
SMM on the other hand plays more of an active role in relation to social media by referring to the creation and distribution of content and other messages through the social web by some form of viral marketing. This can be anything from creating compelling content that gets bookmarked and even hits digg’s homepage to spreading a viral video by putting it on YouTube and other social media websites. It’s about the things that are done off-site, for example, participating in online communities where your customers hang out would be an active role that falls under SMM.

If you are using self-hosted wordpress, you might need this Subscribe to Comments plugin. This plugin is a robust plugin that enables your commenters to sign up for email notification of subsequent entries. So, why we need this feature? This is actually a good way to lead your commenters come back to you when there are other new comments added in for the particular post they commented before.

The steps for installing Subscribe to Comments Plugin:

Login to WordPress official download website or you can click here
Download the plugin
Upload the file to your WordPress Plugin foler.
Login to your WordPress admin and click the Plugins
From the Plugins, activate the Subscribe to Comments
Don’t forget the last step – setting for the plugin (enter your name and email address)

Your Subscribe to Comments is ready for use. You can check your website and the sentence of “Notify me of followup comments via email” appears at the bottom of the comment form.

If you think that making money online is just too difficult for you, you should read this Online Business Blueprints by Billy Deakin. Billy just give away his 35 pages report for free and I would say that the report is just too great for a newbie or even people who already making money online.

The Blueprints mainly focus on how content, traffic and monetisation bring to your success in internet marketing. Billy elaborates in very details on why these three keys are important and what are the important factors, elements and tools inside the three keys.

Starting an online business is not difficult at all by using this report as a guideline. You could always refer it back and it is updated because Billy just finish editing and start to give away 2 weeks ago. How to get WordPress API Key For the Akismet Plugin?

Recently I receive lots of spam mails for my blog. So I decided to use the Akismet Plugin. I always think that I just need to activate the plugin and all the things consider done. Well, when I really take a look into it, I found that they need a WordPress API Key to activate the Akismet Plugin.

I try to recall whether I have the WordPress API Key, and the answer is NO. So I need to get the API Key and obtaining the API Key for a self-hosted WordPress blog is quite confusing because I need to register an account at WordPress.com.

Why should I need to register at WordPress.com since I already have self-hosted blog at WordPress.org ?And the answer is I don’t need the API Key for WordPress.org but some plugins require it for the activation. If the plugin require the API Key, I will know when I activate it. In this case, the Akismet Plugin require the WordPress API Key.

Here are the steps to obtain the WordPress API Key:

The dashboard will show that your Akismet Plugin is not activated.
You will see “Please enter an API Key or (Get Your Key)“
Click the “Get Your Key”
You will be directed to WordPress.com sign up page.
Click the “Sign Up” tab at the right top corner and follow the instruction. (Please take note that they require a different username and email address and it should not be the same as self-hosted WordPress account)
Click the “Just a username, please” and now your account is active.
Check your email and click on the activated link.
You will receive your WordPress API Key by email within a few minutes.

If you are not receive the API Key through email, you can always login to the WordPress.com and from the Global Dashboard, you should see your API Key number. Please do not share the API Key because it’s like a password.
