WordPress Themes with SEO Build-In

I still remember when I started my self hosting websites on blogging, I used lots of time in choosing the WordPress themes for my blogs. Most of the themes just have little problems here and there and the most common problem is the layout doesn’t fix both the Firefox and Internet Explorer.

Sooner, I found that almost all WordPress themes aren’t designed with SEO in mind – in fact they are very poor for SEO.

6 SEO Problems Common In WordPress Themes – by Court

 

  1. Multiple use of the H1 tag. The H1 tag should only be used on each page of a site. Most WordPress themes use the H1 tag multiple times on each page.
  2. Excessive use of H2 tags. Most WordPress themes use H2 tags for almost everything in the sidebar. This causes H2 to be used nearly 10 times on each page. They should be used for the 2nd most important heading on each page, which is probably going to be your post title. The H1 tag should be used for the main heading on each page, which is probably the name of your site.
  3. Weak use of HTML title tag. On most WordPress themes, the HTML title tag appears as: the name of your site: category: post title. Since you will often have keywords in your post title, this is poor use of the HTML title tag. The post title should appear first.
  4. The code for the sidebar often appears above the content. This results in all of your pages looking the same in search engine listings. It also dilutes the power of your content and post titles, because they’re moved down in the code for each page.
  5. The comment section is poorly setup. Many of the themes use H1, H2, and H3 tags in the comments. This is a huge mistake that would lead to dilution of the intended H1 and H2s.
  6. Archive and category pages produce duplicate content. If full-text versions of the posts are shown here, it can cause post pages to show in Google’s supplemental index. I would set category and archive pages to show excerpts only, or add ‘noindex’ to their head.

Things I Have Learnt For The Last Three Month

I have joined Internet Marketing for three months. Can you imagine three months ago I’m totally inactive in internet?! I just use internet for office works and seldom check emails. Although I have MSN and Friendster accounts, I seldom participate in it.

I came across some ads about Make Money Online when I surf net one day. I started to wonder What is happening in this world? Why there are people earning money through internet but I’m totally don’t know about it? I tried to look for more information about this and slowly I came to the word of “Internet Marketing”.

Without much thinking, I decided to get myself in internet marketing. The first thing I learn is “Mindset” and the right mindset is the main key of success. There are three secrets of success in IM: -

  • Right Mindset
  • Right Attitude
  • Right System

I spent time to adjust my mindset and attitude towards IM and I get a mentor because modeling is a good and fastest way to success. If you read my blog post, you should know that my mentor is Teddy Wu and I’ve joined his Apprentice Program recently.

For the last three months, I have learnt about: -

  • Internet Marketing
  • Affiliate Marketing
  • Search Engine Optimization
  • Social Media Marketing
  • Google – Adwords, Adsense etc
  • Article Marketing

I also never think of I could have my own domain website and get one for my lovely Baby Moon.  I must admit that the power and will of learn is so strong that I set up the blog by myself doing step by step without any IT background.

I’m not the legend of get quick rich in three months time but I always believe in “There is a Will, There is a Way!”. I believe I can succeed one day if I don’t give up. And now I think I already have some achievements in term of my life because of my willingness to change. The achievements just couldn’t be measured by money. =)

Will the AIG Crisis affect Singapore?

The hottest news in town for these two days must be the AIG Crisis. The AIG subsidiary, American International Assurance (AIA) has also been affected. About 100 nervous customers on Tuesday waited outside AIA offices in Singapore to check the status of their policies. Even Monetary Authority of Singapore said in a statement that AIA has sufficient assets to meet all its liabilities to policyholders but some still wish to cancel their policies.
According to report, AIG Singapore founded in 1931 has more than 2 million policies in force. The possibility of AIG bankruptcy has brought to the fear of all the people in town and all of us are monitoring the situation closely.
The collapse of Lehman Brothers and the AIG Crisis has created new uncertainties for Singapore’s economy. Singapore ecomonic growth forecast also has been revised from 5-6 percent to 4-5 percent this year.
I strongly feel the impact on the U.S. financial turmoil towards the whole environment. I am also worrying whether my insurance policies with AIA life insurance unit, were safe. Life becomes harder and I think you can feel it in some ways too. If you were to ask me what can I do for this moment, I would tell you I won’t sit there doing nothing but will work harder to make more money online to secure my future.

5 Important Components of a Money Making Blog

Recently I found a blogger friend who has few money making blogs that earns him few hundred dollars per month. I treat these blogs as money making blogs because the blogs really make him money and he is enjoying earning money through blogging.

From there, I realised that there are 5 important components that we need to take note when start to make money through blogging.

1. Choose Right Topic or Own Interest
It is important to choose a topic that you interested in. If you are interested in planting, then share with public your experience of planting, tips for planting and other information about planting. Since this is about your own interest, you will have the passion to write about it and share with others.

2. Right Niche Market
After choose the right topic based on your on interest, you will get the niche market. Niche market is the market you are marketing to and by knowing your niche market, it’s easier to do the marketing and to determine where the marketing energy and dollars should be spent.

3. Keyword Targeting
Keyword targeting is a good way to drive free traffic to a website. It is one of the search engine optimization (SEO) elements that a webmaster should pay attention to. Webmaster could always benefit from right keyword targeting.

4. Good Layout
The layout for a website is important. For example, if you want to make money from the pay per click advertisement, you should place your advertisement at the obvious place that the readers can easily be attracted to click on it. If the advertisements are placed at the corner and the chances of readers click on the ads will be lower.

5. Multiple Source of Income
Multiple income is always better than one source of income. Always look for more advertisers and the chances of earning will be higher.

The Youngest Blogger in Singapore

Who is the youngest blogger in Singapore? My baby moon is the youngest 2 years old baby blogger in Singapore. Of course she is not able to write the blog by herself and I’m helping her to update until she is able to do it by herself. Hmm… It needs to take few more years. However, I think it is a good idea because she can make friends there and when the time she grows she can post her feelings there.

It’s a good channel to communicate with the children when I tell her who are the visitors and who has post comments on her blog and what are the messages for her. By writing the blog on her view of points, I have actually gain more because I try to look things in different angle and understand her better.

I just joined the Apprentice Program by Teddy Wu and yesterday was my first  lesson. I have introduced my friend Teddy Wu in my previous blog post, if you missed out my post about him, here I just have a simple intro about Teddy again.

Being the first who join the program means I must not fail myself and my mentor. I have to work hard to achieve the target and clear all the artificial barriers I have created in my own mind.

I would say that Teddy is a great mentor and he believes in “by sharing and giving, I will gain more”. In the first lesson, he shares with me his experience in the Internet Marketing, guides me the correct way of Internet Marketing and the most important, he is willing to share the tips or “unreveal secrets” that we totally could not get by self learning. As time is a factor, a correct system and guidance actually save lots of my time and by doing the correct things all the time is one of the shortcut towards success.

By looking on the word of SEO itself always difficult for a newbie to understand what is SEO means. SEO is the process where website builders emphasize on the designing on the web pages to improve the volumn of traffic. Designing on the webpages does not mean the design of the theme but it mainly focus on the content of the website. The website must be in good structure and content so that the chance of it will be picked up by search engines tend to be higher. In other word, the search engine would give rank based on the website which have good content and structure well with related keywords.

Today I found out something mean very important to me.

“Does Google penalize duplicate content?”

Well, it’s very important to me because I’m doing my articles marketing and I’ve submitted my same articles to different articles directories and I even share these articles in my blog. So.. when I found this topic I’m quite excited and worried because of what I’ve done.

The answer of the question is “When determines that content is duplicated somewhere else , Google penalize the page rank of the website”. Google like fresh content and we should not just copy and paste our articles or content to other website without any amendment. Gosh.. I’ve made mistake for my past articles marketing.

I hope to share this with you all if you are doing articles marketing or planning to do the articles marketing. Pls bear in mind and don’t let Google penalize your page rank since you already have this information. For me, I would definitely won’t repeat the mistake again.
