What is Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) and Pyramid Selling?

A Multi-Level Marketing or Pyramid Selling scheme will typically require participants to pay an upfront charge. In return, the participants are promised financial rewards for each additional participant recruited, as well as all new participants who are in turn brought in by their recruits – hence the pyramid-like structure.

As more salespersons are recruited, participants hope to recover their upfront charges and earn sizeable profits. However, such a pyramid schemes will eventually collapse when they run out of new recruits, resulting in those salespersons at the bottom of the pyramid losing all their upfront charges.

In the interest of consumer protection, the Government’s regulation effort is targeted at preventing the proliferation of such high-risk schemes.

How do I recognise a pyramid selling scheme?

Many pyramid schemes often disguise themselves as sellers collectors’ items, software, training programmes, etc, when all they are interested is to make a quick buck through recruitment. Members of the public who attend sales talks must be vigilant to such schemes. Illegitimate MLM schemes usually share the following characteristics:

* When the promoter hype about how easy it is to earn money, people can get very rich in a very short time and that the way to earn money is by recruiting others to join the scheme;
* The so-called product that you are supposed to sell is not something you would normally buy at its price;
* Participants are required to invest money into the scheme, whether in the form of a joining fee, or buying inventory.

Remember – there is no easy money, you must believe in what you are selling and you should not put your money at unnecessary risk.

How are MLM activities governed in Singapore?

MLM activities in Singapore are governed by the Multi-level Marketing and Pyramid Selling(Prohibition) Act. The Ministry of Trade and Industry administers the Act.

The original Multi-Level Marketing and Pyramid Selling (Prohibition) Act was first passed in 1973. In June 2000, Parliament approved an amendment to the Act to widen the definition of pyramid selling to catch all business schemes that were multi-level in nature.

However, as not all multi-level marketing techniques are undesirable, the Government concurrently enacted the Multi-Level Marketing and Pyramid Selling (Excluded Schemes and Arrangements) Order (hereafter, referred to as the ‘Exclusion Order’) to exclude legitimate businesses from the Act, such as insurance companies, master franchises, and direct selling companies which fulfill certain criteria. This Exclusion Order was implemented in June 2000.

My Top 5 Reasons to Use My Lead System Pro (MLSP)

However, I purposely not doing any advertisement or Pay per Click (PPC) just wanted to know how’s the free traffic and result is. And I actually hit my own target which is to get 100 free leads within one month.

There are 5 main reasons I use My Lead System Pro (MLSP) and why I think you should use My Lead System Pro too.

1.    They have very compelling opt in page
If you are not new in internet marketing, you should know that it is not easy to design or write a COMPELLING opt in page. This is important because if the page cannot attract the attention of visitors, you will lose the lead forever. And, you only have one chance.

For online marketers who really earn lots of money online, they really make sure the opt in page is working well and would spend tons of money to do split test etc.

If you are a newbie, then I assume that you don’t have the skill to write compelling opt in page. The fact is, MLSP actually has many different version of opt in page for you to choose from. You just need to choose the most appropriate theme and it solves your problem of create your own.

I have experience in creating own opt in page. However, the opt in result is not as good as MLSP. So, “compelling” is still the key.

2.    Customized series of follow up emails
If you still don’t know the power of “follow up”, then you probably didn’t make the kind of income from your online business yet. Follow up is very important, either phone calls follow up or email follow up.

Email follow up plays a big role as it helps to build relationship with your prospects. Again, schedule the follow up emails is not an easy task. You need to know how and what to say. Also, when is the best time to “call to action”. All the factors needed to take into consideration and MLSP actually takes good care of all.

3.    Multiple streams of income (more than 20 affiliate programs)
Good programs and products are recommended to your prospects and all of them are very useful and high value. Of course, if they get any of the recommendations, you earn the affiliate commission. So, which means you have income regardless they join your primary MLM business. It really solves the major 2 problems of network marketers which are LACK OF LEADS and LACK OF MONEY.

4.    Advance Internet Marketing Training Center

This Is How They Do Multi Level Marketing (MLM) In Singapore

After so many times I heard my friends told me about how some people do network marketing in Singapore, I finally decided to share with you a very real experience from a very close friend. I hereby invite her to write me her own experience on how a MLM company’s representatives approached her at the underpass of a MRT station.

Go ahead to read her story and if you think to laugh, don’t control but just go ahead to laugh! However, let me tell you first, this is not a joke but her real experience.

“That was a time that I have realized that underpass is no longer a passage full with come-and-go people but also a tiny stage for street performers and also promoters.

I was caught by people standing in the underpass for the whole afternoon. This is indeed a great experience that I can share in different aspects. Should I think of why I am targeted or should they given opportunity from us to listen to them.

One afternoon, after running here and there dealing with bank problems, finally I came to the last stop. As I walked quickly pass through the underpass, 2 people stops me in front. My rushing mind became blank in a second. I have forgotten how we start the conversation but I could remember that we began with usual greeting. This seems that they were trying to minimize our gaps. Until this point, I still do not have an idea on what are they trying to tell me.

However, I continue to stay there, they have something to promote. I was not only surrounded by 2 people but a group of their colleagues. It is a kind of I at least need to know what they are blocking me for before I ask for leave.

Upon my request to give them 5 minutes time, they quickly unload my heavy bag and ask me to remove sport shoe, followed by most important, fundamental and crucial step – stand on a weigh machine. This all things were done in a short time that I have no time to ignore. Actually it is not a big deal to get more people to know my weigh as this is the usual topic with my girl friends.

From their interpretations based on my weight, I was suggested to lose weight. I was told that they have high success rate for those taking their products in cut off weigh plan. The intention to lose weight is not strong enough from the beginning until the promoter strongly emphasize on my flabby arm by touching on it. Arch, this is indeed point out my scandal.

They showed me the so-called valuable package which is approximately 3 dollars per drink that can replace actual meal that worth for the same price. From the time they keep grounding how flabby I am into my little mind, lose weigh really pass through my mind. Unfortunately, that was the last week of the month which means that I not even have enough money for my fundamental consumption. Rejection has come out from my mouth and they turn into agitate and want me to think twice. Subsequently, I really followed their request to think deeper and decide not even give the 5 dollar deposit for the 75 dollar promotion price products. Finally, I left with the promise that I will phone them if I feel regretted after leaving me by not buying the product on spot.

It sounds like the whole process would exceed 5 minutes…”

You Will Fail If You Still Using Traditional Marketing

Your friend just introduces you a very good business opportunity, with great products and wonderful compensation plan. You can “see” the money is going to bank in into your account if you can get some people to join you. You are just so excited to share with everyone you know BUT very soon, you are not longer excited but doubt about your decision because no one want to join you. Not only they don’t want to join you but they also tell you that “this is not working, this is scam, blah blah blah…”

Sound familiar? Well, let’s assume that the opportunity is a real and genuine opportunity and not a scam. So, do you know what happened? Why you fail to get people to join you?

Let me just tell you the truth, traditional prospecting or recruiting approaches is no longer effective for trying to build your downline or organization.

Normally your company or your uplines teach you to make a list of warm market (eg. your family and friends), approach everyone you know or you meet and immediately upload your business opportunity on them. Maybe they also teach you on get the leads off the internet, call them and pitch your business.

Let’s think further about the above approaches, there are some major components that are missing from the equation.

1.    Are the people in your list including friends, relatives and strangers qualified or targeted people?
2.    Have you built any type of formal business relationship or made any connections?
3.    Are they really interested in your business and products?
4.    Are they individuals that are self motivated money makers?
5.    Do you need to convince them they need to create outside streams of income for their financial security?

The above reasons are some of the very foundational reasons why 97% of Network Marketers do not succeed. Very simple, you are targeting the wrong people and you are leading with your business opportunity before you create the connection.

Now, let’s talk about how you should be marketing and the method using by the top 3% of network marketers are using – Attracting Marketing.

Attraction marketing is where you first provide value and create relationship with your prospects. Find out what their needs are and become a problem solver, not someone trying to pitch their business at every corner. In real, people join people and they don’t join any companies. If you market yourself as a leader, your team is always looking to you for direction. If your company goes out of business tomorrow, your team will still look for you and you all would move to another money source.

However, someone following a company’s blueprint will sink with that ship if it goes down. Your MLM company as great as they are, They don’t show you how to market your business. That’s why they enrolled you! So this is even more of a reason that you must take on a leadership role.

Show your authority, expertise and reputation first, then only will people follow you in what you are doing. They’ll be wanting to join you in your business opportunity when they see that you are a person of excellence. Remember, your prospects don’t need another business pitch, they need you! If you can deliver that, you have not only targeted prospects, but individuals that now trust you and you have created the relationship or connection. Doesn’t that just make sense?

Attracting marketing is not that difficult if you have someone to show you how to do or a system that teaches you how to brand yourself while delivering 1st class value to your prospects. If You Are A YouTube User, Read YouTube Slap 2010 Now!

I was intended to open a new user account at YouTube with a better username, but right before I opened a new account, I get a news about YouTube Slap.

It is nothing new about “Slap” thingy. Either Google Slap, WordPress Slap or YouTube Slap, as long as they feel that you are not adhere to their Online terms and conditions, they would terminate your account immediately without any warning. Many internet marketers’ accounts have been terminated in this case. I think I should blog a little bit about it and let you have a better idea when want to do video marketing at Youtube.

Video marketing is very powerful marketing technique and Youtube is definitely the first choice of channel for uploading the videos. However, following by the Youtube slap, here are few things you must know before doing video marketing at youtube.

If you are a new user with no account at youtube at all
1) Only 1 youtube account on your ISP (internet service provider). If you have ore than one account, then you are asking for trouble!
2) NEVER spam your video description, title or tags with keywords
3) NEVER purchase youtube views
4) NEVER use software to add friends, comments, ratings automatically
5) NEVER upload duplicate content
6) Use your channel for more than just marketing… provide real value and don’t make your channel look like a sales pitch
7) Think long term with Youtube.. You are going to be using Youtube strictly for branding purposes

If you currently have 1 or more active Youtube channels
1) Shut all but one down account ESPECIALLY if you created them all with the same email address!
2) If the one Youtube account you’re going to keep has the same email as any other account you’re deleting, create a new email address and change your Youtube account’s email address immediately
3) Call your ISP and see if you can get a new IP address (remember, only 1 youtube account per IP and if you have multiple accounts, you will want to change your IP address immediately)
4) No spammy videos, no friend adders, no buying views, no using software to automate anything, no duplicate content, and only provide value with no sales pitch

IF, if your account has been suspended by youtube (victim of Youtube Slap!), then you have no choice but to start over on Youtube again!

Basic Youtube Guidelines
1) Provide value and build your online presence / brand
2) No more auto-software
3) No more spam
4) No more friend stealers
5) No buying views
6) Only 1 account with 1 email address

So, next time when you see a video that prompt you the sentence like “the video has been removed due to violation of terms and conditions”, then you know what happened. ;)

Just to share with you more, I’m the member of Elken since 10 years ago and the story started by… My best friend’s sister came to my house one day and introduced me about Elken Spirulina. She shared with me the business opportunity and also the main signature product – Elken Spirulina. I immediately attracted by the business opportunity and that was my first direct sales experience. Yes, Elken has great products such as Spirulina, Ester C, EPA DHA, Win Calrich, Bio Pure Water Purification System (based on reverse osmosis) and many more.

The Elken Molecular Reform Therapy (MRT) make sense for me and this is the 4 steps:
1. Balanced Nutrition
2. Increase Oxygen Intake
3. Detoxification
4. Health Regulation

I was so excited when I first into direct sales business and therefore I did all my upline told me to do. I listed down all my friends, relatives and other contacts name and phone number. I even targeted to my sisters’ friends and their teachers. I organized home parties and get my upline to help me for the presentation. Guess what, I saw the results and also have relatives and friends to join me in Elken. However, very soon I run out of friends to talk too. I didn’t know where to get more people to share about the business opportunity and the good products we have. Other than that, I also didn’t have any more money to further invest in the products and I was so tired to go out everyday met up with some strangers which some of them totally have no interest in the products and opportunity. **Sound familiar for yourself? :)

At last, I didn’t continue the business in Elken but further my degree studies. And from the experience, I told myself I’m actually not suitable for MLM business. Not that I’m not good in products sharing or business opportunity sharing, but because I don’t know where to find right people to talk to and I don’t have enough money to invest in business. 1) Lack of leads

All you need to know is how to find the right people to talk to and how to solve the problem of your money investment in your MLM business. I wonder why I didn’t have people tell me how to solve my problems 10 years ago. ;) However, it’s still not late to find out now and just go ahead to do it.
